FAQ's

(Frequently Asked Questions)

  • What is a Conservation Area (CA)?
A Conservation Area is an area within a local borough that is designated as being of special character and architectural value, considered worthy of preservation or enhancement. If you live in a Conservation Area you must obtain permission from the Local Authority before any work can be carried out. This process can take up to 8 weeks to obtain. If our estimate for the work is accepted, Kingswinford Tree Surgery will automatically check with your local Council to see if you are in a Conservation Area before we carry out any work on your land and if necessary we will ensure we obtain the required permission.

  • A tree of mine needs pruning, but I am in a Conservation Area. Can I do that? Yes, but you need to give 6 weeks’ notice of works on trees in a Conservation Area and that includes any pruning.

  • What is a Tree Preservation Order (TPO)? A Tree Preservation Order or TPO is a part of town and country planning in the United Kingdom. It exists to protect specific trees or a particular area, group or woodland from deliberate damage and destruction. Trees with a Tree Preservation Order are specially selected for their beauty, position, history and value to the local area. As such, the Local Authority marks them on a plan and has a number in a schedule. If trees on your property have Preservation Orders on them, you can still carry out work on them but you will need to obtain permission from the Local Authority before and this can take time to obtain. Before any work is carried out Kingswinford Tree Surgery, once our quote has been accepted, will automatically check to see if your trees have Preservation Orders on them. If they do, we will ensure we get the required permission.

  • Are you insured? Yes, we are fully insured we have £5 million public liability insurance.

  • Can you get rid of the tree stump after removing a tree? Yes Kingswinford Tree Surgery can manage any size tree stump to be ground out.

  • Will the work make a mess in my garden? We will remove all wood and pruning caused by the work. Well over 95% of debris removed will be re-used or recycled
