Bjarni Fighting

Not all disagreements were friendly, and Bjarni (left) tends to fight and not think. Even Bjarni’s sister (right ) can hold her own ! Well he shouldn't have tried to kiss her should he !

Ottar Eriksson after a fight

But sometimes even the oldest and most skilled warriors like Ottar (left) the oldest Eriksson brother can get hurt, and even girls can get when they fight !

Bjarni's sister after a fight

Some of the daily tasks that the Eriksson family do and some of the items they use, may appear disgusting and gross to you. Bjarni has listed some of the worst below.
  • Vikings bathe every Saturday. Saxon’s bathe once a year. It is said that King Alfred once marched the Saxon army through a river because he could no longer stand the smell of his men
  • Sometimes swords are hardened by sticking them into someone's stomach.(Preferably some one you don't like)
  • Saxons sometimes skinned Vikings alive and nailed their skins to church doors. (And they called us Vikings nasty)
  • To stop the colour from coming out of clothes after dying, we add wee (urine) to the dying process.
  • We had no toilet paper, so we used moss and leaves, and sometimes our hands.
  • You could be married at 12 or younger and your parents picked your wife or husband.
  • Parents could sell their children if they are under the age of 8, as slaves.
  • If you had a bad headache we sometimes cut a hole was in your skull, we beleived this would let the demons out and stop the pain, not surprisingly a lot people died from this operation.
  • If food was scarce then we somtimes ate cats, dogs, small birds, squirrels and hedgehogs.
  • It wasn't unusual for children to drink beer for breakfast and their day meal.We only ate two meals a day
